11. Today I Put First Things First

May 29, 2019 –

Never get upset with a lost person for knowing more about the Bible than you do, it’s not his fault!

“For this reason also, since the day we heard this, we haven’t stopped praying for you. We are asking that you may be filled with the knowledge of His will in all wisdom and spiritual understanding, so that you may walk worthy of the Lord, fully pleasing to Him, bearing fruit in every good work and growing in the knowledge of God.” (Colossians 1:9-10, HCSB)

Spiritual wisdom and understanding grow out of a close relationship with God. The better you know God, the more effective the witness you will be. To know God better, you must keep a regular and consistent devotional life.

Set aside time each day to read and study the Bible.  Many people find 15 minutes first thing in the morning to be the best time to read and study.

When you read, read for understanding. Absorb God’s message. Let it permeate your whole being.

People gain knowledge by committing scripture to memory. A good rule is to learn one verse a week. Start this week by learning John 10:10

Spiritual knowledge is a mark of the Christian. He has the knowledge which gives him the answer to the seeking lost and a solution to his own problems.

“The fruit of the righteous is a tree of life, but violence takes lives.” (Proverbs 11:30, HCSB)
