Have you ever prayed, ‘God, please show me your will for my life?’ I’m guessing many of you have. We want to know, and so many times, we would like a clear-cut answer of 1. Where we should be (location) or 2. what job we should take/seek or 3. who to marry, etc. … You get the picture. This is a huge subject that I can’t do justice in this space, but while I go on this journey, I’m beginning with the following three thoughts.
- Don’t conform to the pattern of this world but be transformed by the renewing of your mind. Romans 12:1-2. Why should we do this? Then you will test and approve what God’s will is v2. If we are still living a life where God is not our focus, then it will be so much harder to recognize where He is leading us. Paul starts this passage with ‘I urge you.’ This means ‘of critical importance.’
- 2. Seek Godly counsel. Proverbs 24:6. In the multitude of counselors, there is safety. So many times, we will ask almost anyone for advice on what we should do. Doesn’t it make more sense to seek advice on this from those with a Godly mindset? And not just one. Do you have those in your life? If not, you need to seek them out.
- Read His word – the Holy Bible. God is not trying to hide His will for us. However, how can He reveal it if we do not know His words, His ways or His intentions? We must know Him to know what He wills for us.
Thanks for indulging me with my thoughts along this journey. I know this subject is more encompassing than what I have written, but these are my focus points today.
