When the Bible speaks of the heart, it speaks of the central site of the principles that define and direct who we are and what we do. In scripture, the heart represents the seat of values.
Your life reveals the values and faith you hold in your heart and shows what’s important to you. Other people’s values provide a view into their soul and let you know what to expect from them.
These three Bible verses offer guidance for protecting the heart and the core values it contains.
- Above all else, guard your heart, for everything you do flows from it. (Prov. 4:23)
- As water reflects the face, so one’s life reflects the heart. (Proverbs 27:19).
- Create in me a pure heart, O God, and renew a steadfast spirit within me. (Ps. 51:10)
