Walking with God

April 26, 2023 –

As I finished my Sunday Bible lesson, the journey from the cross to everyday life that leads to a walk with God, she approached me. The lady said, “I’m a Christian, sing in my church choir, tithe, and try to help needy people. But on my journey from the cross to everyday life, I’ve experienced much disillusionment, disappointment, and frustration. I don’t believe I have ever experienced a walk with God or even know what that is.”

At that moment, a story of Peter flashed into my mind. After a long night of fishing, Scripture says that Peter saw only a long night of hard work and empty nets. But God wanted him to see a sea filled with fish. Peter worked hard, and only when he obeyed Jesus’ command did, he find fulfillment and joy in his walk with God.

For many Christians, their spiritual resume’ comprises one past event—when they accepted Jesus as Savior and Lord. That moment of salvation could be from six months ago to six years to forty-six years ago. It happened! But nothing has happened since.

If this describes your spiritual life, read and study Micah 6:8, “He has shown you, O man, what is good: and what does the Lord require of you but to do justly, to love mercy, and to walk humbly with your God?
