RCA Victor released vinyl LPs in 1930, and they remain popular today. Today, National Vinyl Record Day is on Aug. 12th; it provides a great way to celebrate the oldies.
My granddaughter Anna recently got an old-fashioned turntable record player. She has always loved music, especially the rock and roll of the 50s. How did a teenager associate with music sixty years ago?
Some music is timeless and embraces people of all ages. Elvis, Little Richard, Johnny Cash, and the Platters’ music speaks to the heart.
While my wife and I go through our things and cull out essential items to downsize, I came across some recordings my granddaughter will want. Besides the records previously mentioned, I have recordings by Eddie Arnold and Tennessee Ernie Ford. I don’t have any Led Zeppelin, Nirvana, or David Bowie records or CDs.
Anna will treasure the old recordings of radio shows like Superman and Hopalong Cassidy. These are not CDs, but songs and adventure stories recorded on vinyl.
I will only explain carbon paper or rotary phones if you know what vinyl records are.
