As a child, my mother taught me that when we ate a meal at a friend’s house, to never ask for something not on the table. To do so was impolite and an insult to the host.
A couple invited a friend to help celebrate their child’s fifth birthday. When the father brought out the cake accompanied by chocolate ice cream, the guest asked, “Do you have any other flavor?” “No,” the father replied.
Often, what you see is all you get. Be thankful.
The disciple, Thomas, is an example of a person who asked Jesus, is there another way. “Lord,” Thomas said, “we don’t know where You’re going. How can we know the way?” Jesus looked at him and said, “I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through Me.” (John 14:5, 6, HCSB).
Lost people see the great banquet table set before them and ask, is there something more? There is no other ice cream or something hidden from the table. If you want to know God, know Jesus. Be thankful, there is a way, and it’s the only way.
Think about these verses in Luke chapter 14:23, 24. “Then the master told his servant, ‘Go out to the roads and country lanes and compel them to come in so that my house will be full. I tell you, not one of those who were invited will get a taste of my banquet.’”
Like all humankind, you face a decision, and there is one correct choice.
