Forget about past failures. There is nothing you can do to change or modify your past. But you can begin to fashion a brighter future by working with God today to develop your spiritual plan.
Paul, writing to the Philippians, made it clear that if you are to win the race of life and receive the prize, you must forget the past, work in the present, and focus on the future you desire. Paul wrote, “Beloved, I do not consider that I have made it my own; but this one thing I do: forgetting what lies behind and straining forward to what lies ahead, I press on toward the goal for the prize of the heavenly call of God in Christ Jesus” (Philippians 3:13,14).
You may find it helpful to picture a speeding boat crossing an expanse of water. The wake is behind the boat, and the pilot concentrates on steering the boat while he keeps his eyes on the goal. It is what you are presently engaged in that keeps you moving toward the goal. In the past, the wake carries no power to move you forward.
