Spiritual dyslexia is a learning disorder that impairs a person’s ability to read, understand, and make an application of God’s Word. A person with spiritual dyslexia has trouble processing Bible messages, especially miracles. People with spiritual dyslexia can’t understand miracles found in Scripture. They don’t know the people, key cities, backgrounds, or traditions that held the citizens in captivity.
For example, here are some miracles where spiritual dyslexics struggle to read, understand, and apply miracles in their lives.
- A donkey “talks.” Numbers 22: 21-31.
- Chariots of fire. Elisha and his servant, Second Kings 2:11.
- Axe heads swim, Elisha, Second Kings 6:1-7
- The wall of a city falls because men and women marched around it and shouted.
- Sun and moon stand still Joshua 10:12-15
- Rods become snakes; snakes become rods Exodus 7:10-13.
- Water becomes wine. John 2: 7-11.
- The blind sees and the lame walk; the lepers are cleansed and the deaf hear; the dead are raised, and the poor have the gospel preached to them. (Matthew 11:5)
Spiritual dyslexia is God’s way of telling you that you need to change your life and that He will reward you.
For believers who want to see miracles, the Old Testament character Job gives the perfect prayer. He asks God to “Teach me what I cannot see; if I have done wrong, I will not do so again.” (Job 34:32). To see clearly, reestablish your relationship with God. If you have unconfessed sins, confess them. He will correct your spiritual dyslexia.
