Ah, senior citizens, the unsung heroes of the comical world!
While at the doctor’s office recently, I overheard a fascinating conversation. An older lady came to the check-in desk. The nurse asked for a home street address. The patient gave her driver’s license and said, “My address is on the license. When anyone wants to know where I live, I give them my license and say, ‘It is here on my driving permit.’”
I assume if she ever was lost while driving, she would approach another person show them her driver’s license, and ask, “How do I get home?”
The next time you see a senior citizen, watch and listen because it’s not age; it’s wisdom gained from years of trial and error. It helps to remember, “To be old and wise, you need to first be young and stupid. My favorite quote on life and aging is a Forrest Gump: “Life is like a box of chocolates. You never know what you’re gonna get. “
While we can’t all be Tim Conway or Jackie Gleason, sharing our charm and wit, we can share our laughter and joy.
