It is a small thing, to be sure, but the results of gathering together to worship are enormous; the kind of thing that makes the world take notice.
A worshiping congregation can turn a small church into a great one—the church that attracts and grows people. It’s one of the basic but often overlooked principles of the Bible—Jesus mixed His saliva with dirt and placed the mud on the eyes of a man who was born blind. He told him, Go, and wash in the pool of Siloam. He went, and when he returned, he could see.
A small patch of mud in Jesus’ hand gave sight to the blind man. A small church, touched by Jesus’ hand, is a growing church carrying out His plan on earth. The biggest obstacle to church growth is fear. People are afraid a little “mud” may open their eyes, but the blind man would have remained blind without the mud.
