People expect kindness from their families and friends. We also express empathy toward others we know.
But what happens when we are kind to people we don’t know? And what are the results when people we don’t know show kindness toward us?
Many people are guilty of not showing compassion for strangers. Being kind to strangers means going beyond our comfort zone and interacting with different people, situations, and ideas.
Get out of your comfort zone and interact with people of different needs, languages, skin colors, and ideas. Challenge yourself to interact with people, needs, events, speeches, skin colors, and new ideas beyond your comfort zone. Engage with people, needs, circumstances, languages, skin colors, and new ideas outside your comfort zone. Engage with people, needs, events, speeches, skin colors, and new ideas outside your comfort zone.
In Ephesians 4:32, Paul instructs Christians to “be kind to another, tenderhearted, forgiving one another, even as God for Christ’s sake hath forgiven you.”
When a stranger shows kindness toward us, our initial reaction is shock, embarrassment, and bewilderment. Our first question is, “Why is the individual doing this for me?” Don’t be ungrateful or unappreciative. Being a cheerful and thankful receiver is essential. Allow the other to give you something, even if it is a kind word.
Understanding the origins of kindness and being thankful for acts of kindness can bring us closer to God? In being grateful, we show appreciation for God’s blessing.
Never underestimate the power of kindness.
