CAN YOU MAKE PEOPLE CARE?

October 28, 2021 –

Recently, a friend took a vacation cruise and visited the island of Roatán. The island is billed as a tropical paradise. Its white sandy beaches are some of the bests in the Caribbean. Its lush jungle and mountainous terrain offer breathtaking zip-lining and canopy tour adventures. Botanical gardens, parks, and wildlife make Roatán a garden of Eden.

My friend and his family saw otherwise. What they saw was trash and garbage everywhere. They witness the failure of years of negligence, uncaring, and not concerned people. By not caring, the residents of Roatán are transforming this once pristine island into a spoiled trash-filled piece of real estate.

The natives of Roatán are not going to care about their beautiful tropical island unless they realize that their livelihood and welfare comes from the tourist who visits the island.

The Bible says that God spoke to Adam and Eve. He said, “Behold, I have given you every plant yielding seed that is on the surface of all the earth and every tree which has fruit yielding seed; it shall be food for you; and to every beast on the earth and to every bird in the sky and to everything that moves on the earth which has life, I have given every green plant for food”; and it was so. And God saw all He had made, and behold it was perfect (Genesis 1:29 – 30).

Everything was there’s to care for. One caveat, the man, and woman were not to touch or eat from the tree in the middle of the garden. We know the story; they ate of the one tree that was forbidden. In not caring to obey God, Adam and Eve lost their residency in Paradise.

Today, people are not going to care for other people, places, and things unless they realize that their purpose comes from loving God and their neighbor.
