We live in a world that assumes everything has a starting point. But, the Bible doesn’t say, “At the starting point, God created.” In reference to God, the beginning is not a point in time, God is everlasting and not bound by time.
Beginning, as used in Genesis 1:1, is a reference to the creation of the world. The Psalmist writes, “Before the mountains were born or you brought forth the whole world, from everlasting to everlasting you are God” (Psalms (90:2).
Created. God brought everything in existence without preexisting material. The apostle John writes, “All things were made through Him, and without Him was not anything made that was made” (John 1:3).
This is not a story of how God created, but a statement that He did the creation. The fact is, God is the origin of creation.
Believers cannot toggle back and forth between “in the beginning, God created,” and the idea “there is no God.” The choice is between faith and no faith. God created without preexisting material. He can create within you a new heart, but there is one preexisting condition: you must believe on the Lord Jesus Christ and be saved.
The Bible is a book that ends with these twelve words, “The grace of our Lord Jesus Christ be with you all. Amen” (Revelations 22:21). God spoke, and everything appeared; man sinned and fell from grace; God extended His grace, and it saves everyone who accepts His grace.
